About Our Team
Bird Blitch is the Founding Partner of Ogeechee Ventures, a growth-stage investment firm focused on healthcare, fintech, and outdoor recreation. He works alongside private equity firms to help technology companies execute and create lasting value, especially in the communities they serve.
Bird co-founded Patientco, a healthcare payments company focused on improving the patient financial experience, and led it through its acquisition by Waystar in 2021. Before that, he co-founded BroadSource, a telecom expense management software company that was acquired in 2010.
While he knows the startup ecosystem well, Bird now spends most of his time focused on growth-stage companies in healthcare and fintech. He serves on several boards, including at his alma mater, Georgia Tech; multiple PE-backed tech companies; and philanthropic organizations committed to innovation and impact.
Bird lives in Atlanta with his family and spends as much time as possible outdoors - or at The Hub, an outdoor experience and mountain bike retail company in Pisgah Forest, North Carolina.
Brent Cann holds the role of Chief Investment Officer at Ogeechee Ventures where he oversees the firm’s portfolio across both public and private markets. With more than 20 years of investment experience spanning family offices, corporate finance, entrepreneurship, and operations, Brent brings a comprehensive perspective to growth investing.
Before joining Ogeechee Ventures, Brent founded and served as CEO of a regional logistics and transportation company, gaining hands-on experience in business ownership and operations. Previously, he was Chief Investment Officer at Atlantic Investment Company, an Atlanta-based family office, where he led the firm’s Registered Investment Advisor, Pointer Capital, and managed the family’s public and private investments.
Brent began his career at Stephens Inc., focusing on mergers and acquisitions and capital raising for both public and private companies.
A native of Gastonia, NC, Brent holds a degree in Analytical Finance and Accounting from Wake Forest University. He and his wife Megan have two daughters, Clara and Madeline. Brent is active at Dunwoody United Methodist Church and enjoys golf and coaching youth sports teams.
Annie Gustafson serves as Executive Administrator at Ogeechee Ventures, where she plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of an organization dedicated to supporting innovative and impactful businesses. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for efficiency, Annie ensures smooth functioning of the company's administrative processes.
As an integral part of Ogeechee Ventures, Annie contributes to the company's mission of fostering development and driving growth. Her role involves working closely with executives and team members to create an environment that nurtures creativity and promotes success for the businesses and nonprofits they support. Annie's dedication to her work makes her an invaluable asset to Ogeechee Ventures and the entrepreneurial ecosystem they serve.
Today, Annie lives in Brevard, NC. She enjoys fly fishing, hiking, backyard beekeeping, immersing herself in the outdoors, and leveraging her talents across the Ogeechee Ventures portfolio and in the Western North Carolina community.
